The brainchild of Ken Milne, the SOGC and HIROC, moreOB began as a structured three-year Patient Safety and Risk Management (the “R” in more) Program trialed in 5 Ontario hospital units.
Today, it is with great pride that we announce that moreOB is now coast-to-coast-to-coast across Canada.
With a powerhouse triumvirate of HIROC, the SOGC and the CMPA as shareholders, the Program, revolutionary for its time, has since gained notoriety for driving serious and meaningful change in culture, retention, and risk management over time.
So, how has a one-time risk management initiative become a nationwide standard in Patient Safety implementation, high performance and healthy healthcare culture?
Salus Global (the parent company of moreOB and moreEX) practices what it preaches: CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement). In the past several years, the organization has worked through a Program redesign (fondly referred to as 2.0) to bring clients more than 14 years of experience and the benefit of evolution, making the Program(s) more timely, more relevant and more impactful. And the work is ongoing.
The 2.0 version of the Program incorporates the key fundamentals and tools of the earlier ‘model’ but integrates some notable improvements including: use of a current ‘issue’ as the focus of the Milestone work; increased focus on Core Team effectiveness and health; a revamped online toolset; a new APP (moreOB only) and more to come.
Moving to a new hospital? Implementing a new process? Have a number of new staff? Experiencing challenges with rates of PPH? Wanting to maintain Accreditation Canada certification requirements? It doesn’t matter the ‘what’ – more is the ‘how’….Not only does it power teams to see the issues in front of them (perceived), it eventually helps them find, understand and address the barriers and challenges they didn’t even know they had (unperceived).
Representing the sentiment of ALL Salus Global employees, President and CEO, Malcolm Eade noted, “The changes we’ve made…The experience we have… This Milestone of having moreOB| EX in every Province in Canada is a testament to the Program’s impact and value to our healthcare teams.” He added: “The modernization of the more Programs reflects not only our commitment to partnering with healthcare teams, but also to help them manage risk, improve quality and drive patient safety. Our firm belief is that a positive culture is one of the strongest levers of all. Salus Global is committed to taking teams of experts and creating expert teams.”
As a testament to high standards and CQI proficiency, Salus Global has been recognized as a provider of continuing education for the healthcare team for 6 years through December 2023 by the governing bodies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Accreditation Program (ANCC).
